Here for sale is a Fender Mustang from 1965 which has a vintage refinish in a gorgeous Translucent Blue Burst, a similar finish style to a Gibson guitar with the vibe of the classic Lake Placid Blue. The body and matching neck are both from 1965. The tuning keys are original, but the rest not. The bridge, control plate, knobs and tremolo arm are all Fender parts, and only the highest quality components were used in the restoration of this guitar, such as switch craft switches, Seymour Duncan pots, orange drop capacitor. There is the odd chip and scratch here and there but this just adds to it's vintage roadworn mojo.
The guitar has been upgraded with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail in the bridge position, which is upside down to fit the slot and this was the same pick up used by many great players, and notably Kurt Cobain of Nirvana who had one in his famous Lake Placid Blue Mustang. In the neck position is a Seymour Duncan Cool Rail pick up which sounds equally great.
The switches have also been lowered without any routing so you don't knock your fingers on them. These upgrade was also found on the Kurt Cobain Signature Mustangs and is a great improvement. The guitar sounds fantastic and great for any style.
The neck is particularly nice with a full professional restoration, new frets and features a Rosewood fretboard and clay dots. The tuners are all working. The original headstock decal had be removed but a period correct one has been applied and the headstock face has been clear coated to protect it. The finish on the neck has an amazing patina with light finish checking all the way down that looks to be clear coated so it feels nice and smooth with that desirable checking showing through. Fender Custom shop often try to recreate this but you can't beat the original and natural wear over the years. The stamp on the neck heel reads 8th April 1965 A and features a highly coveted Brazilian Rosewood fretboard.
A vintage rip roaring Fender Mustang ready to rock!
This guitar plays as good as the day it came off the factory line in 1965 with the benefits of modern components.
