Update: Since I created this listing last year I ended up adding two sliding matching custom racks underneath each side on caster wheels (See last three pics for details). These are also for sale for $100 each. I am now using this full time although it is not beat up at all and still in excellent condition with extremely minimal wear. I sanded and stained it again last year too as shown in pics. It holds x5 as much outboard as an Argosy desk too.
Also comes with built in matching wooden racks on casters that slide under the bottom left side, not shown. Fits perfectly and gives you another 8 spaces. Also not shown is I added rack ears to some new spots that fit 19” gear on the back as well.
A one of a kind custom built halo but with a beautiful black stained wood design instead of metal. The wood grab is beautiful where shown and this desk has way more features and rack space than an Argosy desk. Extra rack ears have been added two two more sections on the front and two more sections on the rear for power amps and conditions etc.
Considered much nicer and retro vintage than the bulky plastic halo, this desk exceeds the Halo in both design and actual rack space. It looks way cool in our opinion too but we’re moving in a different direction.

Built by a master woodworking shop in Brooklyn, NY. It is a custom shop that built this, not a hobbyist or amateur. It was designed and built based on the Argosy Halo specifications. The desk was custom made by “Greenpoint Woodworking Builders” in 2019 and immaculately kept in smoke/pet free home studio. There’s a nice semi-gloss black new finish that’s been applied in 2020 which is deeper and more durable than the old paint that chipped. This is three coats of deep stain.
It has the 19 inch rack ears not just on the tops where the halo stops, but also:
- on the bottom in back for monitor amps
- below the horizontal desk on both sides
- on the back for power conditioners. I have two mid Atlantic 13U racks on casters that slide underneath this but not listed here if you’re local.
It was recently sanded and re- stained in June of 2021.
It’s a slick desk for sure and doesn’t take up much space (exact measurements shown in last pics).
