The HotBox 120 is a dual mode resistive power attenuator designed to absorb most of the output power from your amplifier so that you can capture the natural, rich, overdriven tone of your valve amp, but without the hearing damage and angry neighbours.

The 120 is our mid-range option with a perfect balance of features and price. Our improved Jam mode offers finely adjustable reduction reduction and better tone than our previous models whilst our fixed Studio mode offers repeatable and predictable reduction.

This is the definitive, current and latest version.

Modes

We've taken the guesswork out of attenuation with our easy to use, two-mode switchable system. In Studio mode the HB120 provides the perfect volume for studio recording or garage-jams. In Jam mode the HB120 reduces your amp to levels ideal solo practice and bedroom jamming.

Amplifier types

The HB120 works really well with all sorts of valve amplifiers from 120 watts down to less than 30 watts. We've had really great results with amplifiers using EL34, 6L6, EL84, 6V6 valves and many other types. We've got hundreds of happy customers who own Marshall, Vox, Fender, Orange, Bogner, Soldano, MESA and many other amps*.

Power handling

When we say 120 watts we mean 120 watts. No guesswork. No maths. It does what it says it does. And sure, it can get hot with a hot-rodded plexi thrashing through it, but it wont fail you.

Expandability

The HB120 is built to do just one thing and do it properly, but if you decide you need DI studio recording then it is compatible with our add-on DI units.

No badly copied circuitry using surplus hi-fi parts, purely original boutique design using modern parts, tested to the limit and beyond. Designed to be driven hard and hot: Pure, ultra heavy duty, point-to-point wiring and British made components are combined with a massive heatsink into our unique and original design that, I'm sure you will agree, sounds fantastic!
