SN:1948 = July 2nd, 1954 production date D’Angelico New Yorker Archtop Jazz Guitar. With original Lifton Case!

Priced to Sell...!

Please note: This rare find is coming out of a personal friends family collection. The collection also has several fine Benedetto Archtops and a 68 Gibson “Johnny Smith” Archtop.

Condition: Jimmy D'Aquisto (D’Angelico Top Luthier) performed some work on this guitar in 1960 and replaced the pick guard. Other than that? She is all original! There is some checking in the finish, which is typical for an instrument of this vintage. Additionally, there is a small “ding” on the side of the upper bout. Please see picture #10.

John D'Angelico was one of America's finest luthiers and produced what many believe to be finest archtops of all time! This beauty is an amazing piece and features a large 18" body with a fully carved Spruce top and gorgeous carved flamed Maple back and sides. Adorned with the classic "stair step" tailpiece and Grover imperial tuners. This guitar has a wonderfully warm, balanced tone and is incredibly smooth. The neck is a full, C-shape and plays well up the entire fretboard with low action. Fitted with a period correct DeArmond pickup, which has a very natural sound and allows the tone of the wood to really shine through. Overall great condition with some checking, play wear and some very light binding shrinkage. A extremely fine and rare archtop! Includes original brown Lifton hardshell case.
