Originally designed as a replacement for the original delicate rattling horse jawbone sound effect. The sound is created when the ball end is struck against the palm of the hand, and can be varied simply by rotating the sound chamber. The wood versions have warm crisp tones while the metal version produces a metallic clatter with longer sustain.
