Up for sale is an incredibly rare, highly collectible piece of German drum history: a 100% original late-1950s/early-1960s Trixon Model 1/440 parallel-action snare drum wrapped in the legendary factory Blue Croco (Blue Crocodile) finish.

If you are a collector looking for pure authenticity or a Vox/Trixon enthusiast looking to complete a matching vintage shell pack, this is the holy grail.

The Shell & Finish:

Features a beautifully resonant thin German beech shell (with original reinforcement rings) wrapped in the ultra-rare Blue Croco finish. The geometric pattern still has gorgeous depth and changes tone beautifully in the light. The wrap is completely original and the shell has no extra holes drilled into it.

Hardware & Features:

• Original Second-Generation Cast Badge: Features the classic angled horizontal ribbon script emblem with the"C"shaped symbols on top and bottom (dating this drum precisely between 1956 and 1963).

• Intact Parallel Strainer: The notoriously complex parallel-action throw-off mechanism is 100% complete and fully functional, extending cleanly through the shell.

• Teardrop Lugs: Classic early-era separate teardrop lugs mounted side-by-side for the top and bottom hoops.

• Original Dampening System: Retains its highly unique factory external dampening lever complete with the original vintage cotton pad.

• Slotted Tension Rods: Fitted with original, obsolete German-threaded (3/16” BSW) slotted tension bolts.

The snare strap is not the original Trixon strap but is a 1960's period correct high quality Premier brass strap, replaced back in that time period and is also extremely rare in its own right.

Condition Report (Honest & Transparent):

This drum is roughly 65+ years old and shows honest cosmetic signs of its age, which have been factored into the price:

1. Chrome&Hoops: The hoops exhibit active pitting and age-typical chrome flaking. The worst of the chrome flaking is isolated to one area (as shown in the dedicated close-up photo) where the plating has begun to lift in sharp shards. It is stable but should be handled with care.

2. Tension Rod: One of the original slotted tension bolts is bent. It is being left exactly as-is to preserve its original state and avoid metal fatigue; it does screw into the lugs completely and works perfectly as a tensioner and for tuning purposes, so is still functional, but for the purpose of transparency I have included this information so you can leave it or carefully source a period-correct replacement if you would like to.

3. Sizing Note: This is a vintage pre-international metric shell. Standard modern 14"drumheads will not fit. You will need to use metric or pre-international heads (available via Drumshack and other retailers to custom order from Remo/Aquarian) to fit this drum properly.

Shipping & Final Sale:

The drum will be packed with professional-grade care, bubble-wrapped securely, and shipped fully insured with tracking. Sold as-is due to its rare, vintage nature. Feel free to message me with any questions or if you need additional photos of specific parts! There is also a video of the drum being rotated to give a full 360 degree view of the outside and the internal components. I have not seen a more complete or period correct piece anywhere. Thank you for viewing this item. Feel free to make sensible offers. This drum has not been cleaned and has it's original patina as seen in the photos. A video will be uploaded and a link provided as well as photos of the retention bolts which are a complete set of 16 with original washers.
