Kent drums were an American drum manufacturer in upstate New York. They were known as the "poor man's Gretsch," because two of their founders worked for Gretsch, and because they were trying to make drums more affordable. My first real drum kit was Kent, back in the 1960's. This is a set of five drums - two 13" rack toms (different tunings), a 16" floor tom, a 22" bass drum, and a 5 x 14 inch snare. The wrap looks pretty good - nothing is lifting. There is a small tear on the wrap of the bass drum (see in photos), and as usual, some of the wrap has come off the inlays of the bass drum hoops, but overall, the kit presents very well. And it sounds good! Both Dave Wekl and Al Foster played Kents at some point.

I suspect that the floor tom is a MIJ drum. It had a different KENT decal, which I changed to match the other drums. The other four drums are all New York - made.

The heads have very low hours, and are coated Remo Ambassadors on the toms, a coated Remo Emperor Vintage on the snare, and a Remo Powerstroke on the bass. The cost of the new heads is over a third of the asking price. For those who are collectors, I have a number of the original Kent drum heads at least two - 22" heads, two 13" and one 14" head. I also have an original Kent bass drum pedal, which works surprisingly well, though it could use a new spring (it squeaks). The only thing for sale are the drums and the one Kent pedal - the cymbals, stands and other hardware are not for sale.

You can pick it up at my home, or we can meet at some reasonable distance (one hour to 1-1/2 hours away) from my home in the Boston, MA area. I can set it up so you can play it if you are interested.
