For your consideration is a Harman Kardon 730 Twin Powered Stereo Receiver from 1975 in near mint condition with upgrades, details below. Cosmetically I would conservatively rate it 8.5 out of 10 for sound 10 out of 10 clean pristine sound on all inputs/outputs/functions/switches/buttons.

If you're here, you probably already know but this is a legendary receiver with big, warm clean sound far beyond its rated 40 watts per channel. These units are renowned for their twin amplifier transformers and classic sound. In an era where most companies were chasing more watts, Harman Kardon engineers focused on other metrics to improve sound at lower wattage delivering sound quality that exceeds its power rating and price point, making it a coveted item among collectors and music lovers.

If you like that Harman Kardon "look", this one has it. I don't think a better looking receiver has been made. This thing looks slick, even in rooms with modern decor. You can't beat the style of this receiver and it has the goods under the hood to match.

COSMETICS 8.5 out of 10

There are only a few items to mention, first the top edge of the plastic face has some scratches all photographed. Front part of the plastic face has no issues. Bottom aluminum face is in excellent shape and only has one tiny scratch to lower right of function switch and then 2 scratches along the bottom edge under volume switch, all photographed. Case has some scratches on top and sides. On the back, the far right speaker system 2 red connector has some of its top edge missing from a bend at somepoint. It still fully functions however needs a little more attention and care when pushing in to ensure you don't bend or damage it. I have had no issues testing many times over the last month taking speaker wire in and out with no issues just something to be aware of. Zoom all photos, this is in really nice shape for being made in 1976.

The FM receiver works great and the unit sounds amazing even in my rural part of the country, an attached antenna helps bring in further away stations and stereo which is needed to illuminate the stereo light, again attach an antenna if you live in a rural area.

It will blow the roof off the house if you want it to, the sound fills the room and stays clean no matter the media or the volume. I strongly recommend playing with "contour" button engaged to hear the full potential of any Harman Kardon from this era, it is truly a warm, bright, clean sound. I have collected and auditioned the best receivers from Marantz, Pioneer, Sansui, Yamaha and I have settled on the Harman Kardon 730 as the best looking and sounding for my eye and ear, slightly overtaking Marantz as a close 2nd.

This truly is an incredible piece of equipment, these models really do live up to their sterling reputation and this is an opportunity to own a nearly fully restored (everything left in this receiver are not known to have issues so they have been left alone), fair condition HK 730.

I have many years servicing, selling and shipping heavy, vintage stereo equipment. This will be thoroughly and adequately packaged for safe shipping.
