Stager SR-3 Ribbon Microphone
Up for sale is a Stager SR-3 ribbon microphone in EXC condition. It is a fantastic-sounding ribbon mic made here in Nashville by Matt Stager, and for the last couple years it has been a part of my home recording setup with which I’ve recorded hundreds of acoustic guitar demos. It is a huge-sounding mic with a super-long ribbon. Paired with an AEA or other ribbon-friendly preamp, it’s as good a ribbon mic as I’ve used.
Here are the features:
• Passive, high-output ribbon microphone design
• Long ribbon element produces an expansive, dimensional soundstage
• Combines strong detail and clarity with natural ribbon warmth
• Tighter low-frequency response and extended high-frequency detail
• Neodymium magnets create a powerful magnetic field
• Proprietary toroidal transformer designed and wound by Stager
• Internal suspension system helps reduce vibration and handling noise
• Symmetrical figure-8 polar pattern captures sound from the front and rear
• Well suited for vocals, acoustic instruments, drums, percussion, guitar cabinets, and bass cabinets
• Machined aluminum body provides durable studio-ready construction
• Handmade in Nashville, Tennessee
And a few more details:
• Microphone Type: Passive Ribbon
• Polar Pattern: Figure-8
• Ribbon Dimensions: 3 x 0.25 Inches
• Ribbon Thickness: 1.8 Microns
• Magnet Type: Neodymium
• Transformer: Proprietary Toroidal Transformer
• Body Material: Machined Aluminum
Comes in its original wooden box. Asking $1,200 here on Reverb (a bit lower on other forums)
