The Ibanez SM7 Smash Box is an aggressive high-gain distortion pedal from Ibanez’s Tone-Lok series, designed for heavy rock and metal tones. It delivers huge amounts of gain with a tight low end, cutting highs, and plenty of saturation for everything from heavy rhythm work to lead tones.
Controls include Drive, Lo EQ, Hi EQ, and Level, along with Ibanez’s unique VOID noise-gate control and EDGE Sharp/Smooth switch. The VOID control is especially useful for tightening up palm-muted riffs and creating fast, gated note decay.
Like other Tone-Lok pedals, the control knobs can be pushed down into the enclosure after adjustment to help prevent accidental setting changes.
A distinctive and increasingly hard-to-find Ibanez distortion pedal with a character all its own, particularly well suited to late-’90s and early-2000s hard rock and metal tones.
