Yamaha YAS-23 (26) 1990-2000 - Brass Lacquer

Yamaha YAS-23 (Now the 26) Student Alto Saxophone.

Yamaha is one of the top selling, top recommended instrument maker in the US. Their 23/26/200 series saxophones are easily the top selling student saxes on the market. Yamaha is an extremely high quality, reliable, consistent maker. The 23 series are what band directors most frequently recommend to all of our students.

This instrument had one previous owner who used it all the way through middle and high school. The instrument shows some moderate cosmetic wear from use, but not abuse.  It has been well loved and is ready for a new life.  There is surface scratching throughout the exterior and normal discoloration to the brass lacquer that is common on these instruments.  There are no large dents or dings and the instrument still looks good overall.  Cosmetically I would say the saxophone is about 7/10.

The saxophone has been completely disassembled, cleaned, sanitized, lubricated, and adjusted. The saxophone plays perfectly from top to bottom with a great open, controlled sound and even scale. Great ergonomic, quick, fluid mechanism. The pads and bumpers are in excellent condition with lots of mileage left on them.

The saxophone comes with a  newer padded protec neck strap, a ligature, a cap, and a Selmer Goldtone Mouthpiece that has been sanitized and given a new tooth guard.

Everything comes in an upgraded ProTech hard nylon gig-style case.  The case is zippered with both handles and a shoulder strap, as well as backpack straps for convenient carriage.  The contoured shape is slightly more compact and more modern looking than a regular case.  The case also has zippered compartment for supplies, music, and other accessories. The interior Is clean and odor free and is cosmetically 9+/10. The exterior shows only light wear from being stored - also a 8/10.

This sax would be perfect for a serious student, an amateur wanting a high quality instrument, a doubler, or a pro that needs a good, reliable backup alto. This would also be a perfect marching band horn for a hs or college student.  This model currently retails for new for $2,729.00, so this is a great chance to save on an excellent, high quality, lightly used instrument.
