The MPC-03 and MSC-03 were part of Korg’s original expansion card line for the M1 series. The MSC-03 contains raw PCM waveforms featuring drum and percussion samples, while the MPC-03 provides associated patches and combinations that utilize those waveforms.

Together, they allow M1, M1R, and M3R users to add realistic and synthesized drum sounds beyond the factory set. The included kits span electronic, acoustic, and hybrid textures, usable across genres and styles. Programs load via the MPC-03 card and automatically access waveforms from the MSC-03 when both are inserted.

These cards were particularly valued for transforming the M1 into a more rhythm-capable workstation, especially in the context of late '80s and early '90s production where onboard drums were increasingly essential.
