Manufactured in the USA in the early 1980s, this 12" x 14" Gretsch Classic rack tom features the iconic internal gray paper factory tag confirming Model M4420 and Serial Number 133222. Built with Gretsch's acclaimed 6-ply Jasper wood shell, this drum features the trademark Silver Sealer interior, an 8-lug layout, heavy-duty factory chrome die-cast counterhoops, a factory Gretsch tom mounting bracket, and an original natural maple wood finish.

Condition Note

The drum is in good to very good vintage cosmetic condition. The natural maple finish shows honest age and player wear, including typical surface scuffs and a couple of localized rub marks where the shell contacted neighboring hardware during kit use. Near the seam, there is a small localized area where finish was previously missing that has been neatly touched up and clear-sealed to stabilize the wood. The 6-ply straight wood shell is round, the bearing edges are clean, and the interior Silver Sealer coating remains complete with the original factory serial label intact.

Hardware & Functionality: All chrome hardware is original, complete, and functional. The heavy factory die-cast hoops are straight and true, providing the dry focus, defined attack, and broad tuning range distinctive to vintage Gretsch drums. The 8 double-ended lugs and tension rods turn cleanly and tune evenly, and the factory tom mounting bracket locks firmly. Fitted with quality Remo heads, the drum produces a rich, resonant low-mid punch with classic Jasper-shell warmth.
