The bass drum pedal is such a huge influence on the feel and sound of the whole drumset. This was the first pedal that was ever truly great feeling. Everyone played this pedal throughout the entire 60’s because nothing else came remotely close to being this great feeling. It’s such a smart design to have the springs inside the vertical supports, it’s kind of amazing that no one has attempted something similar. You name a drummer from back in the day and they all used this pedal. Ringo, Bonham, Keith Moon, Roger Taylor, all the greats used this pedal. The feel and the impact of this pedal is so 1960’s, it is very Motown. You naturally don‘t hit as hard, and honestly I think that is what makes the drum sound way better because you’re not slamming it as hard like you would with a modern pedal. There’s such a “thump” to the pedal that is so apparent when you A/B with a modern pedal. The bass drum pedal is like the guitar pick of the drums, sometimes players line up a bunch of picks as an “eq section,” and you can totally do that with bass drum pedals as well. If you want a 60’s Motown feel, this is totally the pedal. Great condition, works perfectly, plays great!
