Older "Made in Japan" Boss NS-2 in Very Good cosmetic condition with some slight wear (see pics). Tested and is quiet and fully functional. Serial Number: 837539

Missing two back plate screws. Power supply and jack shown in LEDs-On pick are not included.

The Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor is a compact analog guitar and bass effects pedal that eliminates unwanted background noise and hum without altering the instrument's fundamental tone. How it works

The NS-2 uses a fast-acting, high-quality VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier) and envelope-detecting circuits to distinguish between the guitar's sound and background noise. When the signal drops below a certain threshold, the pedal acts as a noise gate, muting the signal. This analog circuitry is designed to create a smoother, more organic cutoff than conventional noise gates, preserving the instrument's natural playing feel and note decay. 

Features and controls

The NS-2's features provide versatility for various setups. 

• Unique Send/Return Loop: This is a key feature that distinguishes the NS-2. Placing your high-gain, noise-producing pedals (such as distortion and overdrive) within the NS-2's loop allows the pedal to detect your clean guitar signal separately from the noise generated by the effects. This ensures optimal noise reduction while preserving your tone.
• Threshold Knob: This control sets the level at which the noise suppression begins. You can adjust it based on your instrument's signal and the amount of noise in your rig.
• Decay Knob: This knob adjusts how long it takes for the sound to fade to silence after the input drops below the threshold. A longer decay setting creates a more natural sound, while a faster setting creates the tight, choppy gating effect favored by many metal players.
• Mode Switch: This switch offers two operating modes:
• • Reduction Mode: When you engage the pedal, it suppresses the noise. When you bypass the pedal, the signal passes through normally.
  • Mute Mode: Engaging the pedal completely mutes your signal, which is useful for tuning or switching instruments silently.
• DC Output Jack: When powered with a PSA-series adapter (sold separately), the NS-2 can distribute power to other pedals on your pedalboard, helping to reduce cable clutter.
