--------------------------------------------------------
The Benge 4P earned its reputation alongside professional piccolos from Getzen and Yamaha, and this silver-plated example has everything that made the model a working player’s favorite: a .421" bore, four Monel valves for true intonation in the low register, and interchangeable Bb and A leadpipes that cover the standard piccolo literature. It takes a regular trumpet-shank mouthpiece, so there’s no specialty setup to buy. Freshly serviced and ready for wedding season, Baroque repertoire, or that Penny Lane solo you’ve been putting off.
The Benge story ends in our backyard. By the early 2000s, Benge trumpets were built in Eastlake, Ohio, about twenty-five minutes from our showroom, before production ceased for good. Late-era examples like this one hold a distinct place in the brand’s history.
