LeBlanc France Professional Bb Clarinet - OVERHAULED !!! - Buffet R13 alternative

LeBlanc Classic Professional Bb Clarinet – Complete Professional Overhaul – Ready to Play

Offered for sale is a c.1962-63 (s/n 112xx) LeBlanc Classic professional Bb clarinet that has been completely overhauled and is ready to reliably play for many years.

The 1940's to the 1960's were a really sweet spot in LeBlanc's history. The Leblanc Classic and later LL were highly respected professional clarinets of the era, widely used by both classical and jazz musicians. Alongside the Buffet R13 and Selmer 9/10 models, LeBlanc clarinets were considered premier professional clarinets.

LeBlanc Classic is known for its centered, rich and focused tone, excellent intonation and solid build quality. Featuring a metal-capped upper tenon, silver-alloy key work, the Classic still remains a highly regarded instrument.

Properly restored, LeBlanc Classic will give just about anything made today a run for its money...and for quite a bit less money.

This clarinet has undergone a complete professional overhaul, including:

• Complete disassembly of the instrument
• Hand-polishing of all keys
• Bore oiled
• Inspection of keys fit
• Tone holes inspected and resurfaced as needed
• New tenon corks
• New Gore-Tex pads installed throughout (except for a cork pad in the register key)
• New key corks/bumpers
• Spring tensions regulated
• Keys opening height adjusted for optimal response, tuning, and playability

***There are many more steps beyond the basic description of the pro-level overhaul above - full description would make this listing too long.

 Playing Characteristics

The instrument plays beautifully with a warm and focused tone. Intonation is excellent throughout the range, and the keywork feels comfortable and familiar, very similar to that of Buffet R13 or Selmer professional clarinets.

As old Buffets R13 and Selmers 9/10 continue to climb in price, and new R13s are unaffordable due to high price, this properly overhauled vintage Leblanc can be a solution for many players.

This clarinet would make an excellent choice for

• Serious high school or college students
• Adult advancing players
• Doublers
• Professional musicians seeking a reliable backup instrument

 Included:

• Two barrels - 66mm and 64.5mm.

At 70F, using the 66mm barrel, the clarinet tunes exactly to 440Hz.

The shorter barrel can be used to tune to 442, or to play at cooler temperatures and still be able to tune to 440.

• Vintage Selmer HS*-facing mouthpiece in good used condition

• Original LeBlanc Case

The original Leblanc case remains in good functional condition for its age. The interior fabric shows some fading and traces of cork grease, the exterior has discoloration, and the metal hardware exhibits oxidation consistent with age. Both latches operate properly.
