This is a 1926 4 string banjo offered $2,800 eight years ago. When we declined the offer, the music shop owner suggested we wait until 2026 to sell it to a true collector once it reached 100 years old and became an antique. This banjo was owned by my wife’s grandfather. Her entire family were musicians. One of them was the son of the banjo owner played with Glen Miller and several other big band and jazz bands out of NYC. The banjo was his favorite playtime instrument which he often played at the train station where in his later life he was the station manager. We had the banjo appraised locally several years ago by a vintage music instrument shop in Easthampton MA. Recent appraisal shows that the banjo is worth anywhere from $3900 with several valued at $4300 to $5900 with one with a special marking being valued at $23,000. I have no idea if this is one of those but I am seeking at the very least the $3,900. Obviously, I would like to get the best possible offer
