Designed for soloists seeking a deep, thick sound, the SOLO MAX is one of the most distinctive models in the LOTUS lineup. Its large-taper 145mm bell, much larger than a typical trumpet bell, produces a wide sound that fills the space rather than projecting to a single point. LOTUS positions it as a model for soloists seeking "the biggest trumpet sound."
The bell combines a copper stem with a phosphor bronze flare: copper's deep, warm tone plus the richness and brilliant overtones of phosphor bronze, ranging from soft, creamy pianissimo to commanding fortissimo. The machined bronze receiver and 1.1mm-thick machined yellow brass mouthpipe give a solid core and stability despite the large bell.
Despite the big bell, it does not blow heavy. This unit weighs 1141g, not far from a typical Bach 180 series, with quick response. Slots are clear and stable yet not restrictive, combining the SOLO MAX's large-scale sound with high agility.
The three included tuning slides change the feel and tone: yellow brass for a flexible, traditional feel; phosphor bronze for added richness and stability; nickel silver for a clearer outline and added brilliance.
