1940s Epiphone Electar Century Art Deco Amp with Original Tubes and Cover
In on commission is this beautiful piece of music history. Exact dates and specs are a little fuzzy, but this classic little Epiphone is highly original and in perfect working condition. Built sometime in the early 1940s, it features a 12" Rola J12 speaker, period-correct Sylvania 6V6s and the original canvas cover (though it is delicate). The shell has minimal wear with just some light scuffs and chipping, but the wood grain and rich finish shines through. The handle is sturdy.
The amp was recently gone though by the best tech in the region and had a modern power cord added and a few capacitors replaced. In now functions safely and sounds great at any volume. Power should be something around 12w and is controlled by a single volume knob. As the volume goes up, some grit begins to appear, but still without being obnoxiously loud. Originally designed as a lap steel amp, it works fantastically well for modern guitars. It takes an overdrive or fuzz perfectly and would be a wonderful studio companion for those old Stones tones or a roots or indie-type band.
See the attached video for a brief demonstration with Volume knob at 5 with a Les Paul, an overdrive, and a fuzz.
It will be shipped safely and with full insurance. Local pickup/delivery in SE WI also available.
