Yamaha Arius YDP-166WB 88-Key Upright Digital Piano, White Birch

Yamaha Arius YDP-166
The Yamaha Arius YDP-166 is a traditional upright digital piano built for beginners, intermediate players, and returning musicians who want an authentic piano experience at home. It pairs 88 weighted keys with Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand piano sound, delivering the touch and tone of an acoustic piano in an elegant upright cabinet. Designed with home practice and living spaces in mind, the YDP-166 combines refined playability, immersive sound, and thoughtful conveniences like dual headphone jacks and Bluetooth connectivity — making it equally suited to quiet solo practice, teacher-led lessons, or duets. It's a complete piano experience, including a matching bench, three-pedal unit, built-in speakers, and a well-rounded library of Voices and songs to support learning and performance.

Acoustic Piano Feel
At the heart of the YDP-166 is the GrandTouch-E™ keyboard action, which delivers 88 graded weighted keys that mimic the response of an acoustic piano — heavier in the low register, lighter toward the high keys — for the stability and nuance expressive playing demands. This is paired with an integrated three-pedal unit featuring Damper, Sostenuto, and Soft pedals, giving players the full range of expressive control found on a traditional acoustic piano. Together, the keyboard action and pedal setup let players bring genuine depth and dynamics to every performance, whether they're working through beginner lesson songs or more advanced repertoire.
Concert Grand Piano Sound
The YDP-166 brings the sound of Yamaha's world-class CFX Concert Grand Piano into the home. This flagship Voice captures the power and resonant tone of the actual CFX concert grand, and it's enhanced by VRM Lite technology, which recreates the natural resonance of an acoustic instrument for a more immersive, realistic playing experience — including both damper and string resonance. Sound is delivered through a built-in 20W x 2 stereo amplifier and dual 12 cm speakers with a diffuser grille and FIR filter, producing room-filling, consistent tone with no tuning required. Beyond the piano Voice, players have access to 10 total instrument Voices — including electric piano, organ, vibraphone, and strings — along with 50 built-in songs and 303 lesson songs to explore.
Elegant Upright Design & Connectivity
Housed in a classic upright cabinet with elegant wood grain, the YDP-166 brings a timeless look to any living room or apartment. A sliding key cover protects the keyboard when not in use, and a built-in music rest keeps sheet music close at hand. For quiet or shared spaces, dual headphone jacks support silent practice, teacher-led instruction, or duet play without disturbing others. Bluetooth® audio/MIDI connectivity rounds out the experience, allowing players to stream music through the piano's speakers or connect to learning apps for controlling instrument settings. Altogether, the YDP-166 is designed as a complete, ready-to-play package for anyone looking to bring an authentic piano experience into their home.
Why We Love This
Our gear experts appreciate the YDP-166WB for its authentic acoustic feel — the GrandTouch-E™ weighted keyboard and three-pedal unit deliver the nuance and control of a real piano. Its CFX Concert Grand Piano Voice, enhanced with VRM Lite resonance, offers genuinely expressive, immersive tone rather than a flat digital sound. Practical touches matter too: dual headphone jacks enable quiet practice or lessons, while Bluetooth streaming and learning-app connectivity make it a flexible, modern instrument that still respects tradition, wood grain, and classic upright styling.
