Kenwood Super Eleven Monster Receiver – 125 WPC

This is an extraordinary original example of the rare Kenwood Super Eleven High Speed DC Stereo Receiver, complete with its matching original factory shipping carton, molded Styrofoam packing, inserts and original Kenwood Limited Warranty Certificate.

The Super Eleven was one of Kenwood's most ambitious receivers of the era, combining a powerful direct-coupled amplifier with an unusually elaborate array of features including fluorescent power displays, Multiple Acoustic Compensator, built-in reverberation controls, touch-sensor servo-lock tuning, microphone mixing and extensive tape/dubbing facilities.

Rated by Kenwood at 125 watts per channel minimum RMS into 8 ohms from 20Hz–20kHz with no more than 0.02% THD, the Super Eleven is a genuine high-powered receiver rather than simply an exercise in spectacular styling.

This particular multi-voltage example is remarkable for its state of preservation. We have examined the cabinet, faceplate, controls and rear panel closely and find the cosmetic condition exceptional. The wood-grain cabinet remains beautiful, the black face is exceptionally clean, the control surfaces and lettering are remarkably well preserved, and the extensive original illumination and displays present beautifully.

As far as we have been able to determine, the receiver remains completely original and unrestored. We have found no evidence of modification or restoration. We are deliberately preserving it in that state rather than replacing original components unnecessarily.

Currently set to operate at US voltage, the receiver has been function-tested and is operating properly. A video demonstration of the actual unit in operation is included with the listing. As with any original vintage electronic component of this age, no representation is made that original components will perform indefinitely without future maintenance.

The serial number on the receiver is 10810190, and the original carton bears the corresponding 10190 identification. The original molded Styrofoam suspension system and internal cardboard pieces remain with the carton, along with the original Kenwood Limited Warranty Certificate. Cosmetically exceptional examples of the Super Eleven are difficult enough to find. Finding one this well preserved together with its matching original factory shipping package and paperwork is considerably more unusual.

This is an outstanding example for the serious Kenwood collector or anyone looking for one of the most visually spectacular Japanese monster receivers of its period.
