This head gives you a great sounding range of vintage and modern tones. The 100 watt version has the Mesa 5 band EQ. To get the most out of this killer amp, I highly recommend using an EQ pedal, either going into the amp or in the FX loop. If you're interested, I have an MXR 6 band I'm selling cheap. The volume and solo controls let you run it at super low to very loud volumes. You can also use Spkr Off and the headphone out for silent practice and the Slave Out for direct recording or use with a PA. Being a Mesa, it sounds fantastic and is built like a tank. You won't get Dual Rectifier tones from this but there are a lot of awesome flavors available here. The solo control lets you balance out the overall volume when going from clean, medium breakup to full chug sounds. Great amp for a gigging guitarist. One thing: reverb tank is connected but doesn't come on. Patch a reverb pedal in the FX loop and problem solved, plus that gives you more options. For $450 you're getting a lot here. Add your favorite pedals and you have an incredible range of available tones. Moving soon, so I have to downsize my rig. An Avatar 2x12 open back cab with 1 Tone Tubby and 1 Weber Blue Dog speaker is also available.
