Here is one for the Vintage enthusiast!!!

Geib 16" Archtop guitar case, based on the medallion, which is the earliest version, this case was produced in the 40's.

As you can see from the photos, this case is in pretty good shape for it's age. All hinges are in tact, the clasp by the handle seems to stick, but that should be an easy fix. There is a loose spot along the seam by the handle, the handle shows some wear, and there's some wear on the end. The inside is absolutely beautiful! Looks great for an almost 80 year old case!

This case was designed specifically for a 16-inch archtop acoustic guitar. [1, 2]During the mid-20th century, a 16-inch lower bout was the definitive industry standard for traditional jazz and blues archtops. The most notable instruments that came standard from the factory with this exact Geib case model include: [1]

  • Gibson Archtops: Models like the Gibson L-4, Gibson L-50, and early Gibson ES-125 or ES-150.
  • Gretsch & Guild: Vintage 1950s/60s 16-inch acoustic archtops like the Gretsch New Yorker.
  • Harmony & Kay: Premium mid-century department store archtops that outsourced their cases directly from Geib's Chicago factory. [1, 2, 3]

What an awesome addition to any vintage collection!

Some information about Geib:
Geib was one of the premier American instrument case manufacturers during the 20th century. They were highly regarded for their distinct color combinations, matching hard or soft-shell exteriors with vibrant plush interiors. These medallion-style badges were typically pinned to the interior storage compartment lid. During this time, these cases were frequently paired as original factory equipment with iconic vintage mid-century guitars from brands like Gibson, Martin, Gretsch, and Guild
