SONAR 115 Xi: The Modern Art of Sound
The SONAR 115 Xi is a powerful, multifunctional active loudspeaker built for those who want serious sound without unnecessary complexity. At its core is a 15" woofer paired with careful HK Audio acoustic engineering, delivering a full-range sound experience robust enough that a separate subwoofer isn't required. Whether used as a full-range speaker, a stage monitor, or a satellite alongside a subwoofer, the SONAR 115 Xi adapts to the setting. For those wanting to go bigger, pairing it with the SONAR 115 Sub D creates a powerful, loud PA system suited to live performance and club applications alike.

Power and Sound Performance
The SONAR 115 Xi is built around an active 2-way loudspeaker concept housed in a bass reflex cabinet. Its power amplifier delivers a peak output of 1200 W, supporting a maximum SPL peak of 130 dB and a calculated maximum SPL of 133 dB. Frequency range extends from 56 Hz to 18 kHz (-6 dB) and 50 Hz to 20 kHz (-10 dB), with a dispersion angle of 90° horizontal by 60° vertical. Together, these specs reflect a speaker engineered to project clean, powerful sound across a room or venue while maintaining low-end presence usually reserved for subwoofer-equipped systems.
Connectivity and Control
Flexibility defines the SONAR 115 Xi's input options. It offers two XLR/jack combo inputs (symmetrical) for microphone or line signals, plus a 3.5mm (1/8") stereo mini jack for auxiliary sources. Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity adds wireless convenience, supporting True Wireless Stereo (TWS) so music can stream in stereo across two SONAR Xi speakers simultaneously. This blend of analog and wireless inputs makes the speaker equally suited to live performance setups and simpler streaming or background-music use cases.
DSP Functions and Remote Control
The SONAR 115 Xi is equipped with a comprehensive suite of onboard DSP functions, including Master Volume control, Level Metering, a 3-Band EQ, Low-Cut Filter, Front LED indicator, Screensaver mode, Bluetooth Auto Pairing, Delay, and selectable Output Pre/Post Master routing. Each channel's volume and 3-band EQ can be adjusted intuitively using the speaker's rotary control and color display. For added convenience, all of these functions can also be managed remotely through the free HK Audio SONAR REMOTE app, available for both iOS and Android devices — putting full control of the speaker's sound and settings directly in the user's hands from anywhere in the room.
Why We Love This
Our gear experts appreciate the SONAR 115 Xi for its versatility — it works as a full-range speaker, stage monitor, or subwoofer satellite, adapting to different gigs without extra gear. The 15" woofer delivers powerful bass without needing a separate sub, simplifying setup and transport. Two mic/line inputs plus Bluetooth TWS streaming give performers flexible signal options, while intuitive rotary controls, a color display, and the free remote app make on-the-fly EQ and volume adjustments fast and hassle-free during live performance.
