As far as I know this is an 80s fender strat plus or deluxe ..it has decades of use ..it's been all over the world and back many times and has so many miles and play time I can't put a number to it ...I called it "my old Faithfull"..it used to have the big 70s headstock on it ...I was a teenager on the road and it was bought for me by our manager because "I needed upgraded"..lol..the good ole days !
Then it went to storage for years with all my other stuff ..
They sell "Roadworn" strats but this is a TRUE roadworn Strat...it has the miles and wear that u only get from it being played on the road for many many years !!
The original neck that was on it I couldn't get verified because the serial numbers were faded off on the front and I couldn't verify it ..I would sell the neck off it secretly though if interested ?
So I decided to give old faithful a work over ...I bought a brand new fender soft V 50s stratocaster neck and 50s tuners bolted that on and bought a brand new set of Eric Johnson signature pickups and wired them the way he wires his to get the full Eric Johnson sound outta the pups ..so new wiring ,pots ,etc
into an American Strat pro plus pickguard and decided to sell it this way ...these 3 parts alone cost me ALOT of $$$$
I do have the original electronics if anyone's interested also?
I've had this guitar for so long I can only remember getting it as a necessity and that's it ..
You'll see marks stamps , UPC on the body ..
My investigation shows that it could possibly have been made at the Fullerton plant predating the corona plant ...
I can't say this for 100% though ..so I could be selling a very special guitar body !
But either.way I I wanted to give it a new lease on life so I put the brand new 50s soft V neck on it 50s tuners and the EJ signature pickups in it and it's like your favorite worn out shoes ..super comfy super easy to play super sound underneath years and years of being tested tried and true night after night and never missed a beat ..
It's very hard to sell a guitar like this from my point of view ..so many memories ..it's like selling your 15yr old dog...part of the family ...but it has to be done unfortunately
It's an amazing playing sounding and looking guitar ..people say "that guitar could tell some stories I bet!"
Oh yes it could !! Lol
Btw the "custom shop" neck plate was on it forever ..it doesn't mean it is one ...
Thanks
