The Details

The Roland TD-1KPX2 is a particularly ingenious member of the V-Drums family, combining proper mesh-head electronic drum pads with a stand designed to fold into a remarkably compact package.

The kit features four Roland mesh-head drum pads for snare and tom duties, together with electronic hi-hat and cymbal pads. A dedicated kick arrangement provides a reassuringly conventional pedal action, making this a much more satisfying proposition for developing technique than the simplest electronic practice kits.

At the helm sits Roland's TD-1 sound module, keeping operation refreshingly straightforward while providing electronic drum sounds and useful practice facilities. Plug in headphones and you have a splendid setup for practising at civilised volumes, while audio connectivity makes it easy to play along with music.

The folding frame is the real piece of engineering wizardry here. Rather than requiring a complete dismantling operation whenever floor space is needed, the TD-1KPX2 was designed to collapse into a considerably smaller footprint for storage or transport.

The kit is in excellent condition but shows signs of previous use consistent with a working electronic drum set.

A fine choice for home practice, teaching, smaller rooms or any drummer whose domestic negotiations involve the phrases "too loud" or "where are we going to put that?"
