Akai MPK49 49-key USB/MIDI keyboard controller in partially working condition. The unit powers on normally and much of its functionality works, but there are several known control issues detailed below.

The 49-key keyboard works, including aftertouch. The MPC-style pads, transport controls, pitch/mod wheels, knobs, and many of the other controls are functional.

Known issues:

• Fader 5 is physically damaged/detached. The loose fader piece is included.
• The corresponding CC16 value fluctuates on its own, including when the MPK49 is powered through USB rather than the external power adapter.
• There is a small loose piece/object rattling inside the unit when it is moved. I have not opened the unit to identify it.
• Switches S1–S5 and S8 were unreliable/nonresponsive during testing.
• S6 and S7 function properly.
• Octave Down works normally.
• Octave Up is very difficult to activate and generally requires repeated or firm presses.
• Normal cosmetic wear from age and use.

The MPK49 has been tested using both USB power and the included 6V DC power adapter, and it powers on using either method.

The working keybed, pads, knobs, transport controls, and other functioning features make it usable as-is depending on your needs, or it could be a good candidate for repair.
