Standard uninstalled fret wire suffers from random factory crown height variations of several thousandths of an inch. Traditional 3-roller crank benders copy these flaws because they fail to bend a true, clean radius between the rollers—instead these rollers often twist the wire and create flat spots because the rollers do not actually form the intended radius.
