I bought this bass in Manhattan in 2020 for $5000. It has been through a lot, as you can see from the numerous repairs and blemishes. I have used it for gigs and recordings, but I can't afford having two basses anymore. It plays incredibly well in orchestral, jazz, and even bluegrass contexts.
Appraised by a luthier as having structural issues (due to age, previous owners' mistreatment, and amateur repairs):
- Top face is warping
- Top, back, and sides have numerous cracks, all of which are adequately repaired (glue, pleats)
- Neck block area has some separations
- Bass bar may be separating, but no noise yet
