Bruce Wei BWUJ17 Handmade Tenor Ukulele 2015 – Solid Acacia/Koa – Abalone Turtle Inlay

Beautiful and unusual Bruce Wei handmade tenor ukulele, built in December 2015. Model BWUJ17, serial UJ17-02157.

This is one of Bruce Wei’s individually styled 17” scale tenor ukuleles and features some really impressive woodworking and detail. The solid-wood body has beautiful natural figuring and dramatic color variation, especially across the back. Bruce Wei is known for building with acacia/koa and other premium solid woods, and this instrument appears consistent with his acacia/koa builds from this period.

The neck is a contrasting reddish hardwood, with a dark hardwood fingerboard and bridge.

What really makes this one stand out is the detail work: abalone shell soundhole rosette, shell fretboard position markers, contrasting wood binding, an unusual sculpted cutaway, distinctive bridge design, and a beautiful abalone sea-turtle inlay on the bottom/end of the body.

The ukulele is approximately 11 years old and presents beautifully. Please look closely at the photos for condition and the natural grain of the wood. The outdoor photographs were taken in natural light to accurately show the color and figuring.
