Seilen is a domestic handcrafted brand made by Shinji Takahashi in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture. This particular instrument is a used 2024 show model, "SLTC-286". It features a master-grade Hawaiian koa body with a beautifully uniform curly grain, a Honduran mahogany neck, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and a semi-gloss finish. The luxurious specifications include a four-in-line headstock with a design reminiscent of a hawk or eagle's beak, side holes, and a cutaway. The abalone rosette trim, the wave-like lines on the fingerboard, and the silver (pure silver) line embedded along the edge of the headstock to emphasize its lines give it a sense of luxury. The sound produced by the all-Hawaiian koa wood is superb, fully bringing out the best qualities of koa wood, such as its well-defined notes and light, clear projection. Each note has a strong presence and a powerful, forward-projecting sound, giving the impression of ample torque. The side holes provide a monitor and surround sound effect, creating a very pleasant listening experience. A pickup was previously installed, but a dummy jack is currently fitted.
