1930's Universal Co Modernized Ring/Spring DYNAMIC Microphone, works (Hear it)

     Offering a vintage early 1930's modernized ring/spring microphone from Universal Microphone Company.  This Inglewood California company produced mic in early days of "talkies", and located just outside of Hollywood was the perfect location. In the early days of radio and sound recoding, a carbon capsule was suspended by springs inside a metal ring to isolate it from tabletop noises and handling. Carbon mics required a special DC power source and most did not survive in working condition this long.      We tucked a mini dynamic capsule inside the carbon module so this mic now works with any modern mixer, and amplifier, without needing external power. This type of conversion is ideal for users who need the vintage look, but require it to be compatible with modern gear. And the sound still sounds plenty vintage, which you can hear by checking out the voice sample in the listing video. This authentic piece measures 5" in diameter and about 6" tall, with a "marquee" on top to display a station's call letters. We have applied a WSM call to it, which was one of the most far-reaching stations in the USA. The mic is hardwired to a 6' cable with 1/4" male phono plug.
