Personal Thoughts:
This is a particularly striking Les Paul Custom and a great example of how different the model can look with a highly figured top. The 3A quilted maple has loads of movement across the body, and the Trans Amber finish allows the figuring to stay extremely visible while giving the guitar a warm, almost honeyed appearance. Against the ebony fingerboard, multi-ply binding and gold hardware, it feels much more exotic than a conventional solid-colour Custom.
Underneath the unusual cosmetics, it retains the classic Les Paul Custom formula: mahogany construction, an ebony board and dual humbuckers, giving it the sustain, weight and authority associated with the model. The carved quilted top adds a genuinely premium visual element without taking away from the traditional Custom identity.
A very handsome Gibson Custom Shop build with far more individuality than a standard Ebony or Alpine White example, and one that should appeal equally to players and collectors looking for something a little more distinctive.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Presents very cleanly overall with only light signs of careful use consistent with age. No significant wear or damage to mention. Supplied with its original Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, certificate of authenticity and associated documentation.
