Rare Jack C. Clark Soprano Ukulele with PegHed Tuners in Excellent Condition

I am selling a truly beautiful soprano ukulele that was made by retired luthier Jack C. Clark in 2012.

I found Mr. Clark online recently and he was kind enough to answer a few questions about the instrument. He is in his eighties, ex-navy, ex-fighter pilot, now ex-luthier. He explained that he had retired from guitar and ukulele building, closed down his website, and had lost his instrument documentation during his many moves.

The internal label reads:

One of my self -imposed restrictions was that none of my instruments…were to be alike; each was to be unique in itself. Unfortunately, due to my many moves since I gave up building, I have misplaced the records of the instruments I built and where they went. Same with your ukulele. I don't recall who I built it for. I had a web site and sold several instruments online. In fact, one went to a collector in Taiwan and two to England. I sold several instruments and received several custom orders at ukulele festivals.

While I was active building, I wrote a quarterly article for Guitar Maker Magazine focused on offering tips to beginner builders.

As far as your uke, the serial number represents the year I built it and it's the 68th instrument I have built. The neck is mahogany and the fretboard is rosewood.

I'm delighted to know some of my instruments are being used/appreciated.

There’s not much available about Jack online, and with his website offline, it’s hard to find other instruments he’s made. I guess people held onto them rather than putting them up for sale. But if you do a search on “Gear Review Video – Jack Clark 6 String Ukulele” by “Mark 'Spanky' Gutierrez” you will find a review of another Jack C. Clark ukulele.
