Based on the serial number on the back of the headstock and other details,

we’ve just received a great deal on a used 1979 “The Paul”!

This model was produced for only a short period from 1978 to 1982.

It’s a rare find these days and a nostalgic piece for longtime guitarists.

Instead of traditional woods like mahogany or maple,

it features walnut—a material commonly used in high-end instruments—for both the body and neck.

The fingerboard is made of ebony, the same material used in higher-end models like the Les Paul Custom.

Even when compared to other flat-top models like the SG, the unique hardness of the walnut wood

delivers crisp high-end clarity and tight, defined low-end—its defining charms.

It’s easy to use in today’s music scene and truly shines when plugged into the latest effects pedals and amplifiers.

This guitar has been played extensively over the years,

so it has scratches and dents. There is also some peeling of the topcoat.

The frets appear to have been filed down several times;

they are currently about 50% of their original height.

The truss rod turns both left and right.

It has a cool look with an aura unique to a well-worn instrument!
