Up for auction/sale is an absolute rarity for vintage instrument collectors and players alike: a 1970s Harmony H409 "Double Eagle" 5-string banjo in practically brand-new, showroom condition. This instrument looks as though it was test-played once in a music shop 50 years ago and immediately tucked away safely in its case. It still features the original gold foil "H409" model sticker perfectly crisp and intact on the back of the headstock—a detail almost always lost to time.Condition Report:

• The Banjo: Practically flawless. The finish is stunningly clean, and the chrome open-gear tuners and hardware are completely immaculate with zero pitting, rust, or oxidation. The clear Remo Weather King head has a few microscopic swirl marks/scratches that are so faint they cannot even be captured in photographs. The neck is straight and the structural integrity is perfect.
• Strings: Please note the banjo is currently missing its 5th string. It will need a fresh set of light-gauge strings to be fully playable, which is standard for an instrument sitting unplayed for decades.
• The Case: Includes the original vintage chipboard case. It is in incredible shape for its age, showing only a very minor, hardly noticeable crease and a small scratch on the bottom. All latches and hinges work perfectly.
