Yamaha PB-1 Bass Preamp / DI
Yamaha PB-1 bass preamp/DI in good working condition. A somewhat obscure vintage Yamaha unit, but a genuinely excellent piece of bass recording gear.
The PB-1 offers a very versatile bass signal path, including a 3-band EQ, parametric midrange EQ, effects loop, and high/low crossover with separate outputs. It also provides balanced and unbalanced outputs and a front-panel headphone output.
This is an especially good studio DI/preamp. The direct output is clean and quiet, while the extensive EQ and routing options make it easy to shape a bass sound before it hits the recorder or console. The crossover also makes the PB-1 useful in bi-amped setups.
I've used this extensively as a bass DI and have always been impressed by it. It's one of those older pieces of gear that is easy to overlook, but it sounds fantastic and is exceptionally well built.
