This is one of the most amazing preamps to ever exist. The Siemens V72 is a legendary, vintage Class-A tube microphone preamplifier built in Germany during the 1950s and 1960s for professional broadcast and recording studios.
Development: Developed between 1949 and 1952 by North West German Radio and the Institute of Broadcast Technology in Hamburg.
- Manufacturers: Built primarily by Siemens, Telefunken, Maihak, and TAB.
- Production Run: Around 25,000 units were made for the German radio network before transistor gear replaced them in the mid-1960s.
- Famous Usage: Modified versions wired in series were used in early EMI REDD mixing consoles, famously recording the Beatles.
