In 1981, I bought a 1959 Gibson Melody Maker. It was my first electric guitar. I quickly decided it needed new tuners. Why? I was 15. I have no idea! I routed out the holes and slapped some Grovers in there and there they stayed. (See photo. Guitar not included!)
The Klusons have sat in a drawer since then. I’m never going to put them back on so I figured someone else could get some use out of them.
I put them on an old Oahu lap steel to see if they still function well. They worked like a charm!
So if you want nearly 70 year old tuners with only about 22 years of wear and tear, this is it.
I listed the item as ”Very Good” considering its age.
