Urabe Ukulele is a relatively well-known name among those familiar with the history of Japanese ukulele making. Carefully handcrafted in Japan, Urabe instruments are characterized by their refined construction, which makes the most of the natural beauty of the wood rather than relying on excessive decoration, while maintaining a strong focus on practicality as musical instruments.

This is a used URABE M-49, featuring Lacewood throughout the body and neck. It is a medium-sized ukulele with a beautiful, distinctive wood grain and the character that can only be developed through many years of aging.

Urabe String Instrument Workshop in Kyoto began making guitars in 1966 and started producing ukuleles in 1997. The instruments are completely handmade by two generations of the Urabe family and are known for their accurate intonation and beautiful, well-defined tone, making Urabe one of the representative names in Japanese-made ukuleles.

The use of Lacewood not only for the body but also for the neck gives this instrument a particularly distinctive appearance. Along with its beautiful figured grain, Lacewood produces a bright and clear sound with a pleasant amount of body and depth.

There are very few noticeable scratches, and the neck is in excellent condition. This is a highly recommended handmade Japanese ukulele for anyone looking for an instrument one step above a standard model.
