DW Cravitto Maple Snare 1997 - Natural

Now this snare is a work of art!
This is a 5.5”x14” DW snare drum made by Johnny Craviotto before he began making his own drums.

It is a natural finish and I’ve made a few upgrades to it in the time I’ve had it.

One of the first upgrades I made was to add some Hendrix lug sleeves to the tension rods would not touch the hoops and make the dreaded “metal-to-metal” interaction. I also replaced the triple flange hoops it came with and threw on some Ludwig brass die-cast hoops top and bottom. Lastly, a years back the throw off started to become a little unreliable so I swapped it and the butt plate (both original items that came on the snare) with an Inde brass throw and butt plate. All the parts I replaced I will include in the purchase as well as the parts that are on the drum.

This snare shows virtually no signs of cosmetic damage. Everything works smoothly now and it sounds incredible. It is a very versatile snare.

It is from 1997, it sadly doesn’t have that famous Johnny signature on it. I bought this snare used from Vic’s drum shop in Chicago and I’ve owned it for about 5 years. I always kept it in an Ahead snare bag and for the past year I haven’t really gig with it so it stayed in my bedroom.
