2013 RICK TURNER COMPASS ROSE TENOR UKULELE #359 – CEDAR / INDIAN ROSEWOOD – GIG BAG

Beautiful handcrafted Compass Rose tenor ukulele from Rick Turner / Renaissance Guitars of Santa Cruz, California.

Stamped “13” and “359” along the top edge of the headstock, identifying this example as a 2013 instrument, serial / build #359.

The Compass Rose is one of Rick Turner’s most distinctive acoustic designs, drawing inspiration from the historic Howe-Orme body shape while incorporating Turner’s own modern approach to ukulele construction. Its signature features include a cantilevered fingerboard and player-facing side soundport.

Based on the appearance of the woods and comparison with documented Compass Rose instruments, we believe this example features a Western red cedar top paired with Indian rosewood back and sides. The rosewood has a beautiful deep reddish-brown color with dramatic dark grain running throughout.

CONDITION:

Overall in good, clean condition with normal light signs of previous use and handling.

The instrument presents very nicely, with a rich, warm-looking cedar top and particularly attractive dark-grained rosewood back and sides.

The signature Compass Rose construction is immediately recognizable, with its unusual body profile, cantilevered fingerboard, side soundport, compass rosette, and distinctive headstock.

A beautiful and uncommon American-made Compass Rose tenor from the Rick Turner workshop, combining premium solid tonewoods with one of the more interesting and innovative ukulele designs to come out of the Santa Cruz lutherie tradition.
