Roland JP-8080 with 2MB SmartMedia expanded storage card. I bought this a few years ago and it arrived with several loose / dead / scratchy pots and evidence of having been unloved for a while; in a past life I was a surface-mount assembly and rework monkey (also digital / analog circuit designer, PCB designer and manufacturer, etc) and I decided that this unit was in its forever home and would get the full enchilada.

I spent about 40 hours reworking this unit. I replaced all the dodgy pots (including the notorious / irritating volume and arp tempo pots) with NOS parts and cleaned the rest; measured, cross-checked with service manuals, sourced, and ultimately replaced every capacitor and most of the other discretes in this synth. Every power supply cap, every 0.1uF SMD ceramic decoupling cap, every SMD anti-ripple electrolytic. Every. Capacitor. Internally and electronically, this is the cleanest JP-8080 that has ever left its factory packaging. I have a couple of hundred hours of use on it since the work and haven't needed to open it back up; new parts have therefore passed the infant mortality test and should be good for another couple of decades of making those good, good trance and rave sounds.

I am sad to be selling it, but I'm also selling the TB-303 I paired it with because I am rarely using either in the type of production I do now and I'm trying not to hoard gear that isn't getting used, even when I love it. Please put this gorgeous beast to work making people's butts shake.

The oak rack isn't included, largely because I made it for my specific workspace and it is uglier than it appears in the photos. If you really want it, we can discuss. :)
