Sansui G-8700DB Pure Power DC Stereo Receiver

Excellent-condition Sansui G-8700DB vintage stereo receiver, professionally serviced by 617HiFi in Brookline, Massachusetts and successfully bench tested for more than three continuous hours.

Rated at 160 watts per channel into 8 ohms, the G-8700DB is one of Sansui’s powerful and highly collectible Pure Power DC receivers. Its brushed-aluminum faceplate, illuminated analog tuner scale, digital frequency display, power meters, substantial controls, and wood-grain cabinet give it an unmistakable classic Japanese hi-fi presence.

Professional Service

This Sansui received targeted, condition-based professional service.

• Capacitors that tested bad, out of specification, or required replacement were replaced as needed.
• Problematic transistors were replaced where necessary.
• The receiver was inspected and tested following service.
• It completed a continuous 3+ hour post-service bench and listening test.

For complete transparency, this receiver was not fully recapped, completely rebuilt, or restored from the ground up. Many original components that continue to test and operate properly remain in place. We prefer an accurate service history over broad restoration terminology.

Cosmetic Condition

Excellent overall condition for its age, with an especially strong front presentation.

The brushed-aluminum faceplate presents beautifully, with crisp lettering and clean knobs, switches, and controls. The dial glass is clear, and the illuminated analog tuner scale, digital frequency display, indicator lights, and power meters create a striking presentation.

The wood-grain cabinet retains a rich finish and attractive grain across the top and sides. There are light age-related marks, along with visible finish and edge wear around portions of the rear trim and rear corners. The rear protective rails also show normal surface wear.

The rear panel, heat sinks, speaker terminals, audio inputs, antenna connections, AC outlets, model plate, and serial-number plate are present and clearly photographed. An older Martin Electric sticker remains attached to the rear panel.

The Sansui G-8700DB weighs approximately 46.3 pounds before packing. Because this is a large and heavy vintage receiver, it will be carefully protected and double-boxed for safe transportation. The final packed shipping weight will be higher.

Shipping includes tracking, full insurance, and signature confirmation when appropriate. Reverb Safe Shipping will be used when applicable. Proper packing materials and double-boxing are included in the shipping charge.

Shipping-Damage Process

Please inspect the package and receiver promptly upon delivery. Any shipping damage must be reported immediately through Reverb, and all original packaging must be retained until the claim is resolved.

Because the shipment is insured through Reverb, transit-damage claims must follow Reverb’s review and approval process. This process may take five or more business days.
