Vintage Leslie Model 18 Rotating Speaker Cabinet

Here’s a very cool piece of vintage Leslie gear: an early-1970s Leslie Model 18 rotating speaker cabinet, serial number H27351.

The Leslie Model 18 delivers the unmistakable swirling, three-dimensional rotary speaker effect that made Leslie cabinets legendary. Unlike an electronic chorus or rotary simulator, the Model 18 creates its modulation mechanically using an actual rotating speaker system, producing the movement and depth that players associate with classic Leslie tones.

While Leslie speakers are most famously associated with Hammond organs, the Model 18 is particularly interesting for guitar players and shares the basic concept of the sought-after Fender Vibratone-style rotary speaker system.

This example is in Very Good condition for its age and retains a great vintage appearance, including its original-style Leslie 18 badge, grille cloth, black covering, metal corners, and identification plate. It even retains an old Raytown Music Co. dealer badge from Raytown, Missouri, which is a great piece of local history and provenance.

Most importantly, the cabinet powers on and works great without issues.

The original 5-pin cable is no longer present. However, a dual 1/4" adapter has been added, allowing the cabinet to be connected using standard 1/4" cables rather than requiring the original proprietary cable. Please see the photos for the configuration and overall cosmetic condition.
