Not the easiest 22” to find. And it’s a sleeper cymbal! It’s a fantastic all-around, versatile MULTI!
Part of Sabian’s Big and Ugly Series, this 22” Monarch was the washiest and most crashable in the series. The other options were dry to super dry.
And this one indeed is semi-dry and definitely crashable. That was the concept behind the Big and Ugly series.
At 2374 grams this harder to find EARLY version Monarch has a lathed top side - unlike the later ones - and it makes it warmer and more crashable. The stick attack is defined and fairly focused was a quick decay for a large cymbal.
Darker bell cuts extremely well. Rides. Crashes. All of it! Can occupy a lot of positions on the drum set.
For all it does, it’s a sonic steal at this price.
