WHAT'S DIFFERENT INSIDE?

This isn't simply a vintage-style cone installed in an ordinary replacement-speaker frame. As the photographs show, this new driver is built around a heavy cast-aluminum basket and a substantially enlarged, extra-deep magnetic motor assembly engineered specifically for this loudspeaker.

My goal was not simply to reproduce the appearance of the classic Cerwin-Vega woofer. I wanted to preserve the look, character and excitement that made those speakers so much fun to listen to, while upgrading the underlying construction for the greater amplifier power commonly available today.

The larger magnetic structure provides the strong motor needed for good efficiency, high sensitivity and greater output capability,especially at extreme low frequency inputs, while the heavy cast basket provides a rigid foundation to keep the moving assembly properly aligned under demanding operation. "Bottoming out" is virtually a thing of the past!

The result is a loudspeaker that retains the unmistakable vintage Cerwin-Vega personality on the outside—with considerably more going on underneath.

FITMENT NOTE FOR VINTAGE CERWIN-VEGA CABINETS:
Original Vintage Cerwin-Vega cabinet woofer openings can vary slightly in diameter. Some original-size baffle openings measure approximately 11", while others are slightly larger. On cabinets having the smaller opening, the inside edge of the cutout may require minor filing for this woofer frame to seat completely flat. This normally takes only a couple of minutes with a rat-tail file—simply break the inside edge until the woofer drops into place. No significant cabinet modification is required.
