Mcintosh mx 113 preamp with tuner

I had a friend selling his Mcintosh mc 2205 at a great price so of course I had to buy it. Thousands less for my daughters inheritance. lol. Which meant I had to sell my Mcintosh mc 2505 to buy it. I got twice what I paid for the mc 2505 by the way.

I'm in love with the amp but noticed the front edge side chrome doesn't match my Mcintosh mx 113. I certainly can't live with that!!! Omg what to do? So of course I had to buy the Mcintosh mx 117 to have matching edges. (I'm anal like that) Which means I need to sell my Mcintosh mx 113. Just look at this beauty!!! Isn't she so pretty?? She has a new front glass from Mcintosh and notice how clean the front of it looks without that ridiculous old school bezel that the original front glass had. I bought a sweet reproduction L12 cabinet that I'm crazy about that's just a hair larger than the original Mcintosh cabinet. You can notice a slight difference in the photos. This reproduction cabinet is built better and is slightly heavier, also which I liked because I stack components and if you've ever lifted a Mcintosh anything you know exactly what I'm talking about.

I primarily used the mx 113 as a tuner and it pulls FM stations in great. I didn't have a special antenna. I just took 14 gage speaker wire, connected it to the back terminals and then split the wire on the other end to extend it out. I just noticed the stereo light bulb is burnt out taking these photos by the way.

So anyway, to make a long story short, this Mcintosh mx 113 will complement any Mcintosh amplifier. The advantage of the mx series is you don't need to spend thousands on a separate pre amplifier and tuner. This is an "all in one" component. If you're anything like me, take advantage of this great piece of mid century modern electronics and buy it!! You'll be helping me put money back into my daughter's inheritance!!
