If you're here, you are probably already familiar with the legacy of the TASCAM 388. For those who aren't, it's the singular iconic all-in-one analog mixer and 1/4" tape deck that inspired The Black Keys, Mac DeMarco and Primus to name just a few.

It is recognized by many as being an exceptional creative tool, providing color, character and workflow not realized in modern software plugins. It is truly greater than the sum of its parts. We've personally sold about 5 of these in the last few years (1 was a couple of years ago on Reverb) and this is the nicest one, so far.

This TASCAM 388 was professionally serviced and calibrated in January 2026:

• All cards and boards have been serviced and are working correctly.
• All bulbs are in working order.
• Pinch roller is in excellent condition.
• Heads are in excellent condition. Refer to the photos in this listing for validation that the headstack has been relapped.
• This unit has been fully calibrated including all inputs, outputs, tape-reproduction calibration, biasing, record calibration, transport calibration and VU meter calibration.
• This machine has been calibrated to 250nWb/m which is ideal for both currently-manufactured tape stocks:
  - ATR MDS-36
  - RTM LPR35
  (Old-stock Ampex/Quantegy 407 may also be used but not recommended due to tape shed)
• Unit includes power cord.
